Say a little prayer

My dear friend, the Italian Crab, thinks that there is a God of Business and that it is a woman. 'The Goddess of Account Planning' he calls them. Funny.

When I ring to moan, which I do occasionally when things are not going my way, he reminds me to make an offering to the Goddess. An Account Executive, perhaps, as the sacrificial lamb ? Never!  While I have not yet done this, although others may beg to differ, I am aware of the particularly feminine cycles of business.

There are dark moods that the business world gets into and there is not a damn thing you can do about it when the business world is in this shadow. You just have to ride it out. Tread quietly for inciting her wrath and remember to pickup after yourself.

I think it is odd when men equate business as going to 'war.' Your business, no matter how large or small, should be nurtured and loved. Business as 'war' is a stupid idea! Killing your competition is bad for you, creating a culture like the wine industry has done, is much better for everyone and creates knowledge and support. Culture gives people choice and if you focus on your values and your skills then hopefully success will naturally follow.

I know, I know that there is more to business that this, my short rambling may seem naive, but in essence I refuse to be a 'hater' at work. There are no 'evildoers' that I need to wipe out. Instead I focus on building a culture that supports everyone.

So I send a 'shout out' to the Goddess of Business. She has been a little low lately with all the financial fear talk, but I believe in her power of good and know there is always enough to go around. Let's focus on the positive and bring her out of her mood.

Word to the Goddess!!
