Curb your anxiety

Anxiety is all around at the moment. It has filled the universe with stress, worry and health issues. I really think this is why we are all getting sicker and sicker.

Anxiety stems from the idea that your life is out of your control. It sends you packing to 'drama town' on a one way ticket. There is no fun in' drama town'. This ain't no Club Med. There are no lovely drinks or swimup bars. No nightlife, besides dancing to the beating of your own heart as you lie in bed worrying night after night, doing the Panic Attack shuffle

So I post this short and sharp, icing layer guide to think slapping down the 'anxiety monster' so you can get on with your life.

1) Do something - Do anything to face down your worries and anxiety. If you can channel your anxiety into doing something positive then the monster gets smaller. The more you do the less the anxiety has to hang onto.

2) Reality check - Checking your facts is the best thing to stop you going down the rabbithole of drama. Go through the anxieties and check in with how 'real' they are. If there is illness involved then of course you are faced with some level of reality but make sure you are not unnecessarily causing yourself pain and heartache.

3) Rename the feeling - By choosing to call the anxiousness something else then your brain will reframe how it feels about it. Call it something else. 'Excitement' or 'energy' perhaps. You choose the emotion to attach to the experience.

So stop and smell the roses for a moment my friends and remember, this too will pass.

Happy Anxiety Free Monday, my friends.

Duly noted, although I feel very little anxiety at this time! Life is good, albeit always full of teeny tiny annoying thorns but the roses still smell lovely... Happy Monday indeed (once it gets here, says I at 8pm Sunday in my neck of the woods!!)

Beautiful picture and post. My favourite cure for anxiety is exercise (walking or running) and action - however small, towards the desired result. Analysing what could possibly go wrong always gets me in trouble! I find number two very hard to do objectively! That's why friends are a great help:) Like you, "because i'm not you..." xx
