Cookie?

Monday morning met with steely determination and a container filled with chocolate chip cookies. We are having a bake off at work. It sounds very twee but is actually quite nice. Nurturing and kind, something the business could do with after the storm of recent times.

The cookie jar has been empty for a little while at work. Many hands taking and not enough baking to put fille the jar again. The jar has filled up a little more. More baking required, but the ovens are warm and the intention is good.

I am trying to organise a big surprise for a loved one at the moment, but I realised that good surprises take stealth and cunning. I am not so good at either but fingers crossed I can pull it off. It part planning, part manifesting.

Back to the kitchen.

I love the cookie analogy and all it represents with your business and staff. A kind and delicious way to re engage with your people.

The surprise thing is hard to do without having to tell some white lies to your loved one. I organised a surprise party for my best friend a couple of years ago and she has never quite forgiven either me or her partner for the deceptions we had to play on her. It is difficult when your firm values are honesty and transparency to be sneaking around behind someones back - even when you know it is for their own good!! I found the best thing was to just say as little as possible and tell as few people as possible (especially small people who as we know just can't help being honest). My other tip is to organise it somewhere that is quite removed from their neighbourhood etc. so that they are more consumed by the new place that they don't register things like familiar cars. Good luck with that. The surprise is all worth it in the long run.

Now where is that cookie jar......
