Hello

I had the feeling last night that I was finally coming back into myself. Where had I been I wondered? Everywhere but here, I think.

Most of this year I have been physically somewhere but mentally elsewhere. Always ahead of time - planning, coping, strategising. I had the briefest respite last night, where I realised my mind and body were in the same room. An astonishing and unfamiliar feeling.

Bringing the mind and body together is the challenge of ages. Sufis', Buddhists, Hindus and anyone else with this connundrum will tell you how hard it is to keep from moving ahead in your day, week and life while doing something else. What did Ram Dass say? "Be here now." Sounds lovely but not the easiest thing to do all the time.

If you are a planner then you can tend to not be in the same room as your feet. I am a big planner as a result, I lose sight of my feet and the rest of my body as I travel forward with my plans through time. Staying where I am is my goal. Will I do it? Probably not all the time but I will try goddammit and being aware is the first step.

I was beginning to wonder myself after not seeing you surface for 5 or 6 days! =)

I am likewise a planner and stretgiser. I have such difficulty turning that ambitious part of my Self off. And yet I wish so badly to connect the two, hence reading your lovely book and seeking out that Connection.

Step slowly and I will try to do the same! Let's make footprints in 2009 that resonate with Who We Are.

Have a Beautiful Day;
Char

Mmmm -Last night I pulled out a great book I had read many years ago - "The Miracle of Mindfulness" - it was written by Thich Nhat Hanh -a Zen master and Chairman of the Vietnamese Peace Delegation during the Vietnam war. Anyway it was good to remind myself that being "in the moment, being mindful" is really where it's all at. But soooooo hard to do sometimes, when your mind is always 10 minutes(or 10 years !) ahead of what you are physically doing. BUT if we live like that constantly - then we are never in the present moment. Heavy stuff and yet utterly simplistic at the same time....all the good stuff is like that... Grasshopper xoxo.

Ha! Undergirl I just JUST had recommended another Thich Nhat Hanh booked called Anger: Wisdom for Cooling the Flames. My girlfriend emailed me 2 days ago with that suggestion! How timely your suggestion is LOL!!
=)
