What are you worth?

I don't want to get all Alicia Keys on your arse, but I had an interesting conversation with a journalist today about what women are worth and whether women know what they are worth. Doubtful. Men seem to have an inherent 'I'm worth it!' gene. Women don't. They take the burnt chop and a raw deal alot of the time.

I know I know, there are great men out there and plenty of women who know what they are worth and what they do but take a moment to think about what your time is worth. Are you getting what you deserve in every area of your life? Does your harmony cup run over?

I watched Super Nanny USA tonight, it makes me feel like I have half an idea at child raising. I watched a woman whose partner did nothing. Actually nothing was an overstatement. He sat on his Lazyboy rocker and watched shit on TV and ignored as the shit went down in his house between his wife and kids.

Once the Supernanny had interfered, the gig was up. Guess what, he had to look after the kids and she had two hours to do something for herself. Only thing was she did not know what to do. She had lost her self worth. She had no idea who she was and what she used to do before children and lazyboy husband.

Don't lose yourself. Remember who you are and what you are worth. Remind yourself that you are worth it and that your contribution is vital. Your service is what makes the world go round, in whatever form you offer it.

As it Supernanny says, 'It's unasseptable!'

You know, as usual Dreamweaver, while we may not be seeing eachother, we are often thinking about similar things. For some reason I have been thinking about housework and the fact that so many men do not do their share. It used to be a big issue in my household but my lovely clever man has seen the error of his ways. I seriously found it close to being a deal breaker for while. I could not understand why I, who worked as many and more hours out of the house as him, should have to do more. I saw it as a matter of respect. Is there something about me that means I should be cleaning X&%! out of the toilet on YOUR behalf? This was automatic thinking for me. Somehow my self worth button was highly developed in this area and yet I look 'round and see many women who still let the man of the house slack off in this are. My mum was no feminist but I just found myself wondering why I got such a strong sense of this thing and other women just assumed they'd be the maids of the home. On the surface it's not a serious issue but, as you point out, below the surface there is more going on. Put down the toilet brushes girls!

Unassecptable ROFL... hilarious, yes she does speak that language =P
Thank you for this post. I was just ranting via email to my GF about male behaviour and how sometimes disappointing it can be. I hope to bring clarity to my man as Mrs Underhill has managed to do. I thank you. This post was timely for me =)
