Birthday
Today is my birthday. Born at 11.01 am in Prahran many years ago.
Birthdays are always odd for me. I have Saturn sitting next to my Sun, so my birthday is tainted with lessons and reflection. Am I enough? Have I done enough? What is enough?
The Buddhists tradition of meditation upon waking your birthday morning and focussing on the flame that ignited many years ago when your soul came into being. A nicer way to start. Wondering what your dharma is more than what you have not acheived. Focussed on what it is you are briging to the world for the benefit of all sentinent beings.
And then eat cake.

What have you brought the world for the benefit of all sentinent beings?
That question is a very easy one to answer so YES a great thing to start the day with. After all you have brought two outlandishly charming children who will rock their individual worlds, you have brought suchine and friendship and spookiness to some of us, you have brought laughter and much hospitality, you have brought creative work for many folk to make their living by, you have brought great swags of business to jewellers and hairdressers throughout Melbourne and you have brought insights and much needed stories of sisters to old Mrs Underhill. And that does not even scratch the surface.
