Tuesday freestylin'

The moon is in Pisces today, apparently a good day for those with sensitive hooves to buy shoes. The Piscean Princess told me on Friday that Pisceans always have issues with their feet as they are the only sign without feet, they aren't really meant to walk. Perhaps they could skateboard everywhere?

It is also the day for gardening, which I took to joyfully. The gardens are looking tired, as they always do, midsummer, so I have to tend and nurture gently. Pruning, clearing and feeding.

I like to wander morning and evening to see what progress has taken place. Sometimes, after the rains we had yesterday, you can almost hear the garden growing.

My wisteria is trailing over the house, softening the sharp lines and the crepe myrtle had finally flowered after a tough start in the drought last year. The flowering ginger is out and the aruja is spreading profusely. Tomatoes on the vines and so much basil, I shall have to make and freeze pesto, a treat for the future.

Red nasturiums and blue and white salvia, cosmos daisys which I leave till they die down and shake the seeds randomly over the garden where more will pop up again in Spring. This was one of my goals, to create a garden that would keep reproducing itself with little help from me besides weeding and feeding.

My other goal was to have a fragrant garden and now I am blessed with a frangipani that is covered in flowers, a climbing stephanotis which is laden with blooms and my gardenia keeps sending more flowers as fast as it can.

The espalered lemon is bearing fruit and the new angel trumpet tree is growing faster than a toddler.

Yes indeed, it is a good day for gardening.
