You called it, what?

Onwards with the The Twelve Principles from The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

Today's gem is Name you most valued qualities as your own source of power (i.e., through a magical name.)

When I blogged a longtime ago on Spiritual Business, before I moved to this lovely site, I wrote under the moniker of 'Dreamweaver'. I christened myself with my tongue firmly in my cheek, as I loved the song of Dreamweaver, and I also have an incredible dreams that are both insightful and intuitive. Blame or celebrate my Piscean Moon.

The name I chose, when I was an anonymous little blogger, was the name I hid behind and the name that also empowered me. I think I was unfettered on the old blog, something I am trying to rectify when I take to the keyboard to write for this site.

Dreamweaver was meant to be funny but eventually became my alter ego, allowing me to explore my dreams about myself and about others. It also granted me permission to bring to light the dreams about others in my life and help others far removed from me, to explore their own dreams through my book. This is something that I am eternally humbled by, whenever I receive an email or note from some of the readers of the book.

Creating a magical name for yourself is not as silly as it may seem. How you come to your name is your journey, but if you get stuck you can visit here for a bit of fun.

Finding the name that reflects your values or or what makes you powerful is the best advice I can give. I like to interpret dreams for those close to me and weave them into something that is understandable. Last night I dreamed of a Hummingbird with a message for Blessed Seraph. A nice dream to have and to share.

Other times the dreams aren't so pleasant and so I share them only when under pressure or I feel the message is bigger than me and vital for the person receiving it.

So I learn, dream and weave, happy to have my name to hide behind when the clouds roll in and happy to trust what I value the most in my life - my intuition and the power to connect in a place that is not bound by space and time.

Happy Name Day!

What a great post. I chose my moniker years ago, first as my email address. And I too as a tongue in cheek "isn't this smart" name. Then a few yrs later as I evolved to blogging in 04 and began meeting others i realized I'd branded myself as a name and thought more on it. It works for me, in that I love learning about different religions and some aren't sure if I am some staunch catholic, or just a smartass. And, as a retail worker who constantly deals with a variety of challenging people on a daily basis, I confess I find myself muttering my namesake under my breath at times. All in all though, I am glad to have chosen this name and be known by it. I always encourage other people to think about who they are online, or what name they know themselves in magick or otherwise. Like Beyonce who knows stage herself as "Sacha Fierce"...
